Sunshiki Selected for Japanese Ministry of the Environment's Startup Support Program

TOKYO, JAPAN – October 2, 2025 – Sunshiki is pleased to announce it has been selected for the "R&D Support Program for Environmental Startups for Innovation Creation," sponsored by Japan's Ministry of the Environment. The project is now eligible for a grant of up to ¥30 million JPY (approx. $200,000 USD).

This grant will be utilized to significantly accelerate the research and development of our advanced seaweed cultivation technology.

Our Vision and Future Outlook

Seaweed is gaining global attention as a sustainable biomass resource. With this grant, our initial focus will be to establish stable production technology for Asparagopsis, a seaweed that reduces methane emissions from ruminant animals such as cattle.

In the future, we aim to apply this foundational technology to a wide range of seaweed species and applications, contributing to the resolution of global environmental challenges through a new industry originating from Japan.
